Who is responsible for your information?

Forms open elsewhere. This website does not contain its own application form. Applications and enquiries open services operated by third-party providers.

What does this notice cover?

This notice covers personal information used by AARDUK in connection with:

• adoption, fostering and home-check applications;
• requests to surrender a Dobermann or ask for rescue assistance;
• volunteering, fundraising and partnership enquiries;
• donations and payments where the payment provider supplies transaction details;
• emails, messages and other direct communications with the rescue.

It does not replace the separate privacy information supplied by Atlassian, PayPal, Amazon, Facebook, Google or any other external service you choose to use.

What information may AARDUK receive?

The exact information depends on why you contact the rescue. It may include:

• your name, email address, telephone number and home address;
• details about your household, property, garden, working pattern, experience and existing animals where relevant;
• information about a dog you wish to adopt, foster, surrender or request help with;
• notes, photographs, videos, veterinary information and communications relevant to welfare or placement decisions;
• volunteer availability, skills, role preferences and references;
• donation amount, payer name, email address and transaction reference supplied by a payment provider—AARDUK does not receive your full card or bank-account details;
• technical information recorded by a hosting or form provider for security and service operation, such as an IP address, device or browser information.

Please do not send personal or sensitive information that is not needed. Where health, accessibility or another sensitive matter is genuinely relevant to a safe placement, AARDUK will use only what is necessary and handle it with additional care.

Why does AARDUK use personal information?

Information is used only for relevant rescue purposes, including to:

• review applications and assess whether a home may be suitable for a particular dog;
• contact applicants and arrange conversations, home checks, meetings and handovers;
• protect the welfare and safety of dogs, applicants, adopters, foster carers and volunteers;
• manage veterinary care, accommodation, transport and rehabilitation;
• respond to enquiries, surrender requests and requests for help;
• coordinate volunteers, foster carers and trusted welfare professionals;
• record donations, administer payments and meet accounting or legal requirements;
• keep appropriate records of decisions, agreements, incidents and rescue backup;
• establish, exercise or defend legal claims and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

AARDUK does not sell personal information and does not use application information for unrelated advertising.

What lawful bases may apply?

Who may receive your information?

Access is limited to people who need information for the relevant task. This may include authorised volunteers, home checkers, foster carers, transport volunteers, veterinary practices, kennels, behaviour professionals, Atlassian, hosting and administrative providers, PayPal, insurers, professional advisers, courts, regulators or law-enforcement bodies where disclosure is lawful and necessary.

AARDUK shares the minimum reasonably necessary. Where a provider processes information outside the United Kingdom, the provider’s privacy notice explains the locations and safeguards used.

How long is information kept?

Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for its original purpose, animal-welfare continuity, dispute handling and applicable legal or accounting requirements.

• Applications and enquiries: reviewed periodically and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed.
• Adoption and fostering records: may be retained where needed for welfare history, rescue backup and the agreement.
• Volunteer records: kept while the relationship is active and for an appropriate period afterwards.
• Donation records: retained for accounting, tax, fraud prevention and legal compliance.

How does this website use data?

The public AARDUK website is primarily a static information site. It does not currently use an on-site application form, advertising tracker or audience-analytics service.

The website host may create essential security and server logs. The site requests web fonts from Google and links to external services including Atlassian, PayPal, Amazon, Facebook and Congleton Dog Rescue. When you follow an external link, that provider may receive technical information and use cookies under its own notice.

If non-essential analytics, embedded media or marketing cookies are introduced later, this notice will be updated and consent requested where required.

What data-protection rights may you have?

Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your information, request correction or deletion, restrict or object to processing, receive certain information in a portable format, or withdraw consent.
